Girón has collaborated closely with Prestini and director Karmina Šilec in the creation of the role of Manolin, and this season makes his Opera Columbus debut in the same production. This season, he also joined Teatro Real in Madrid, where he was featured as a soloist in their presentation of Orff’s Carmina Burana. Last season, Mr. Girón joined the New York Philharmonic in Olga Neuwirth’s Keyframes for a Hippogriff, and made his Carnegie Hall debut performing Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms. He also worked with acclaimed jazz pianist Billy Childs on his opera Kindred at the Apollo Theater. In 2025, Mr. Girón joined Heartbeat Opera, appearing in the drag-opera parody Drag Opera Extravaganza, SLAYLEM: The Witch Trials, inspired by Arthur Miller’s The Crucible. Mr. Girón is also a member of Musica Viva NY. Later this season, he will appear as a soloist in Golijov’s Oceana and Mozart’s Requiem. Past performances with this ensemble include alto solos in Bach’s Magnificat, Bach’s Weihnachtsoratorium, Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de confessore, Rachmaninoff’s All-Night Vigil, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Joel Thompson’s Seven Last Words of the Unarmed. He has also programmed, planned, and performed in numerous outreach programs in partnership with the Bronx NYPL branches for children of all ages. Recent credits include The Dallas Opera’s production of Jonathan Dove’s Flight, where he covered the role of the Refugee. Other notable roles include Melanto in Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria, Ottone in L’incoronazione di Poppea, Ruggiero in Alcina, and El Alma in Juana. He was a semi-finalist in Fort Worth Opera’s McCammon Voice Competition and was scheduled to make his debut with Opera Delaware and Baltimore Concert Opera as Nerone in L’incoronazione di Poppea. Girón joined Des Moines Metro Opera as an apprentice artist, again covering John Holiday in the role of the Refugee in Flight. In 2017, he began performing with the experimental electronic music group Swarmius, appearing at the New West Electronic Arts and Music Organization Festival, with upcoming performances in New York and San Diego. Highlights from past seasons include Arsamene in Pittsburgh Festival Opera’s Serse and Oberon in A Midsummer Night’s Dream with the Janiec Opera Company, where he was also a soloist in Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music under the baton of Keith Lockhart. Dedicated to contemporary works addressing social issues, Mr. Girón collaborates with San Diego City Opera on St. Francis de los Barrios, an opera exploring the modern AIDS crisis in Tijuana. He also developed the role of Blood in A Gathering of Sons, a jazz/opera hybrid commissioned by Pittsburgh Festival Opera, and originated the role of Iphis in Juventas New Music Ensemble’s The Body Politic, portraying a transgender Afghan man seeking a new home in America.
